Regional priorities of “Culture” national project were discussed in Syktyvkar
The plenary session concluded the II Northern Cultural Forum which gathered over 300 representatives from 28 regions of Russia and foreign countries in the capital of the Republic of Komi. Sergey Gaplikov, Head of the region, spoke at the meeting.
Participants of the forum discussed current issues in various areas of culture, art and tourism. Particular attention was paid to the regional components of “Culture” national project.
The Republic of Komi has already joined to the Year of Theatre in Russia and the creation of the “Culture” national project regional component through announcing of large-scale projects aimed at cultural institutions network expanding and modernization.
Thus, an additional amount of RUR 15 mln was allocated from the regional budget to support the National Music and Drama Theatre and the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Komi. Plans include the Opera and Ballet Theatre refurbishment. This year RUR 70 mln will be allocated in design and estimate documentation. Repair works have been started in the National Music and Drama Theatre.
A Centre of Culture will appear in Syktyvkar. A new socio-cultural centre will be created in the village of Podcherye, Vuktyl District. Renovation of regional and municipal cultural institutions will be done.
The expansion of modern cinema halls will be continued. Automobile clubs to facilitate cultural life in remote areas of the region will be purchased. Children art schools will be supplied with new musical instruments and equipment.
