Sergey Gaplikov gave start to the III International Tourism Forum “The Accessible Arctic”.
On November 24, 2018 the Head of the Republic of Komi was on a working visit in Vorkuta. The program of the visit began with his participation in The Accessible Arctic plenary session dedicated to the Arctic tourist potential development, new tourism products and promotion of promising areas of Arctic tourism.
This year the forum brought together about 150 participants including representatives of federal and regional authorities, as well as tourist industry management. The head of the region wished the delegates fruitful discussions, useful meetings and worthy results.
“I am glad to welcome everybody to the Republic of Komi, to the glorious city of Vorkuta. This is the Arctic gate on the 67th parallel. Despite the harsh conditions, wonderful people live and work here and create basis for a qualitative development of our northern region. The Arctic is the richest resources storeroom. It possesses unique landscape and local people originality. They love their land and try to create all the necessary conditions in order to live and continue their kin, so that the guests feel comfort, care and respect for the native land. Therefore, we are all interested in the Arctic developing and preserving its charm. I am sure that joining efforts we will manager to realize all the plans we are talking about,” Sergey Gaplikov said.
Forum delegates discussed opportunities for the effective development of the tourist potential in the Arctic, new ways of interstate cooperation in tourist products development in the Arctic region, construction and modernization of tourist infrastructure, promotion of new directions of the Arctic tourism. Discussion sites were organized to create a favourable investment climate and a public-private partnership in the development of the Arctic tourism.
It is a reminder that last year the forum was held in Vorkuta in August. The first forum took place in Naryan-Mar.
