Large investment projects of the Republic of Komi have a high export potential
Such an assessment was given by Dr. Ahmed Al-Saati, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation at the end of his visit to the Republic of Komi. During the two-day trip, the Arab delegation visited a number of enterprises, held working meetings with representatives of the business community and the leadership of the region.
On behalf of Sergey Gaplikov, the Head of the Republic of Komi the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain was thanked by Mikhail Poryadin, the Chief of the Administration of the Head of the Republic of Komi noting the readiness of the regional government to develop bilateral cooperation.
Within the framework of the working visit, Dr. Ahmed Al-Saati, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation visited a number of large forest industry companies including Mondi Syktyvkarsky LPK, Syktyvkar Plywood Plant, Syktyvkar Metalworking Plant, Sokolovka Airport complex and the Raisa Smetanina Republican Skiing Stadium. Prospects for implementing joint investment projects were discussed by Bahrain delegation and the leadership of the Republic of Komi at a working meeting.
The Ambassador thanked the citizens and the leadership of the Republic of Komi for the hospitality, noting that the first acquaintance with the northern region was very informative.
"I thank the Head and the citizens of the Republic of Komi for a very generous and kind welcome. I am sincerely impressed by everything I have seen. You live in a very rich land and have enormous natural resources. I learned a lot about the mining industry, agriculture and high-tech industry. And I will definitely pass this information to my colleagues in Bahrain, as well as to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. I hope that we will manage to arrange a visit of your representatives to us. I will also try to organize a visit of the Bahrain delegation to the Republic of Komi," the Ambassador noted.
During the meeting dedicated to investment projects between the Republic of Komi and the Kingdom of Bahrain, the establishment of value-added wood processing, paper production, oil, gas, coal and bauxite fields development was discussed. Mr. Ambassador noted the special interest of potential Bahrain business partners to Syktyvkar Construction Crane Plant products. A proposal to develop educational and cultural relations, including student exchange, exhibitions and concerts was made.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Saati highly appreciated the export potential of Syktyvkar Construction Crane Plant and noted the prospects of the timber industry project: "I would like to start our cooperation with one or two large projects, perhaps in timber industry and in construction cranes. And further to pass over to oil and gas." The Ambassador stressed that mutually beneficial cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain will allow Komi companies to enter the Middle East markets.
The Ambassador also expressed hope for cooperation with the Republic of Komi in culture, education and sports. In particular, the Ambassador proposed to consider the possibilities of training students of Bahrain in the universities of the Republic of Komi and the teachers and researches expertise exchange.
Dr. Ahmad Al-Saati expressed his wish to visit the Republic of Komi once again, and invited the leadership of the region to take part in a number of events to develop trade and economic ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation.
Earlier, during a meeting with the Ambassador of Bahrain, Sergey Gaplikov, the Head of the Republic of Komi underlined excellent prospects for mutually beneficial economic and cultural cooperation and ordered the Government of the Republic of Komi to support the implementation of investment projects in Komi.
In December 2016, Sergey Gaplikov, the Head of the Republic of Komi met leaders and representatives of diplomatic missions of Asian countries. The event was held in Moscow at the residence of Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, the Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia on the initiative of Jamal Leyla Yandiyev, the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Komi / the Special Representative of the Republic of Komi. The participants of the meeting expressed interest in creating and developing sustainable trade and economic ties with the Republic of Komi.
