Sergey Gaplikov, the Head of the Republic of Komi outlined the prospects for the Timan-Pechora oil and gas province further development
In the course of the Russian Investment Forum Sergey Gaplikov noted in his interview to Interfax news agency that the regional government was implementing a number of major hydrocarbon extraction projects in the area in cooperation with strategic partners. Besides, there are companies also interested in the development of the Timan-Pechora oil and gas province deposits.
"Of course, primarily we are focusing on cooperation with such partners as Lukoil and Gazprom which have been operating in the republic for many years. Moreover, we are actively cooperating with Shell Company [Note. Shell Neftegaz Development LLC], which deals with perspective areas evaluation [the Timan-Pechora oil and gas province] where initially promising structures have been identified as a result of geographical research. To confirm these data, 4 km deep appraisal wells should be drilled," Sergey Gaplikov said.
The Head of the Republic of Komi expressed hope that the company would proceed to the practical project stage in the near future. At present, it is actively studying the terms to carry out these works.
"Today this is one of the most interesting, but not the only project on further oil and gas province development. There are other less ambitious projects. Unfortunately, some successful investors have suspended their activity in the projects implementation they planned to realize. But we are confident that due to our joint efforts the projects will be implemented," the Head of the region said.
