The Republic of Komi and Renova Group have agreed on the possible joint implementation of modern greenhouse complex project in the region
The corresponding agreement was signed on February 27 by Sergey Gaplikov, the Head of the Republic of Komi and Viktor Vekselberg, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Group. The business meeting was held in the city of Sochi within the Russian Investment Forum.
The agreement provides for the joint implementation of the modern greenhouse complex project in Sosnogorsk District, including public-private partnership mechanisms. The investment project implies the use of the Sosnogorsk heat power plant capacity to reduce energy consumption and thus to increase its production profitability.
"The construction of any industrial facility means new jobs and extra tax revenues. At the same time strengthening of food security through the development of modern high-tech agricultural production in the Republic of Komi is one of the absolute priorities to the regional government. The construction of modern greenhouse complex in the Republic of Komi is undoubtedly important for us since it will provide valuable practical experience in applying modern agricultural technologies in the northern climate. We are grateful to our Renova Group partners for participation in the socio-economic development of the Republic of Komi. We are ready to provide investors with all possible state support, including the attraction of skilled personnel and highly qualified experts to accelerate projects implementation," the Head of the Republic of Komi said.
During the agreement execution it was noted that using the advanced high-tech greenhouses technologies would provide growing high quality crops even on the challenging agricultural areas. Considering the Russian import of over 1 mln tons of greenhouse vegetables during the off-season, such project could become a breakthrough in import substitution and will contribute to food security in the region including prices stabilization, idle agricultural lands utilization, advanced agricultural technologies application as well as new jobs creation.
