South Korea is interested in development cooperation with the Republic of Komi.
This was reported by Mr. Lee Jin Hyun, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in St. Petersburg on the results of the meeting in Syktyvkar, at which a presentation of the investment potential of the Republic of Komi was held and possible ways of cooperation were suggested.
Mr. Lee Jin Hyun said that he had been living in Russia for 10 years, but this was his first visit to the Republic of Komi. The Consul General noted the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation between two republics.
"The people of the Republic of Komi are accustomed to the harsh conditions in their republic and like their land, many nationalities live in your region and at the same time there is a harmony,” the Consul General shared his impressions. “Our republics are located far from each other but we are interested in the development of the Northern Sea Route which will strengthen our cooperation and thus trade, economic and cultural relations will reach a new level of development."
Senior Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the Republic of Komi Larisa Maksimova said that the region has created favourable conditions for business and investment.
"In addition to trade and investment cooperation it would be valuable for us to study Korean experience in agriculture, engineering, tourism, health care, to organize film screenings, concert and theater groups exchanges, exhibitions of arts and crafts, artists and photographers. We regard cultural exchanges as an important part of humanitarian cooperation. Culture is a bridge to the development of mutual understanding and friendship between our peoples," the Senior Deputy Chairperson said. She invited Korean businessmen to visit the Republic of Komi with the business mission in the near future.
