The Republic of Komi has presented its economic and investment potential in Slovakia
Presentation for business and government circles was made by Grigory Sarishvili, the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Komi / Permanent Representative of the Republic of Komi to the President of the Russian Federation during a regular meeting of the Russian-Slovak Business Council which was held on December 1-2 in Bratislava.
In particular, potential investors were presented construction projects of Yarega Mining and Chemical Complex for ore extraction and processing, bioethanol and potato starch manufacturing plants, as well as industrial sites for wood deeper processing and polymers manufacturing. The Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Komi talked about the contemporary development of the region, its main industries, prospects and priority projects, as well as of investors’ opportunities being created in the Republic of Komi.
"A variety of support ways from the Komi Government is being offered to the investors. Among them there are legislation, grants, subsidies, guarantees, tax privileges and investment tax credits. Support is provided both to investors making large-scale investments in the economy of the republic and to small and medium-sized enterprises," G. Sarishvili said.
Besides, according to the regional government Deputy Chairman, the one-stop principle has been implemented in the republic. The principle is applied when dealing with investors on the regional and municipal levels. "It made possible to create a unified system of a two-stage project examination. We also support investors in choosing land-plots for projects implementation. With this objective in view, an open information base of free investment sites has been developed. It is available on the investment portal of the Republic of Komi to anyone. We are ready to provide individual assistance in choosing various land-plots. A simplified scheme of providing republican and municipal lands is used under the implementation of large-scale investment projects," G. Sarishvili said inviting potential investors to cooperate.
During the presentation it was noted that within the most significant projects the Government of the Republic of Komi enters into agreements with investors and creates
joint working groups. Such projects are under personal control of the Head of the Republic of Komi. Examples of a successful cooperation include the project of a large greenhouse complex construction in Knyazhpogost District and projects of titanium ore deposits development in Izhma and Ukhta Districts of the Republic of Komi.
Currently, 102 enterprises with foreign capital implement investment projects in various sectors of the economy of the Republic of Komi.
